PARASAILING – Spreading your wings in Goa

The most thrilling adventure sport in Goa

What are the things that come to your mind when you say Goa? Beach, shacks, parties and adventure water sports, right? In the recent years, Goa has developed itself as one of the most popular vacation destinations in India. One of the reasons for that is the exclusive water adventure sports one can enjoy in Goa. Goa has now become a hub for all water adventure sports like windsurfing, parasailing, scuba-diving, kite surfing and what not. In fact, parasailing is one of the most popular things to do in Goa. The thrill of gliding in the air with a parachute at the back is one of the most mesmerizing experiences one can have.

What is parasailing?

Parasailing, also known as para-kiting, is a recreational kiting activity where a person is towed behind a vehicle (usually a motor boat or a land vehicle) while attached to a specially designed canopy wing that resembles a parachute, known as parasail wing. The harness attaches the pilot to the parasail which is connected to the boat or vehicle by the tow rope. The vehicle then drives off carrying the parascender and person into the air. The parascender has little or no control over the parachute. One can feel the rush with the sea breeze whipping through your hair, with the vast blue ocean below and the sky above. Any special skills or expertise is not required to enjoy parasailing.

Making the plans

Before you make plans for a thrilling adventure in Goa like parasailing, it is advisable to note a few points in advance:

  • Though all precautions are taken by clubs and institutes, it is better to take all safety measures. Make sure to inform your instructors beforehand if you do not know swimming.
  • Make sure to check all equipment and to use them with utmost care. If you feel that your harness has not been tightly fit, do let the instructor know or you can always ask him to check it once more.
  • Take care of all your belongings and do not take anything with you during your time of parasailing.
  • Do not indulge in drinking during or before the parasailing sessions.

While parasailing is considered to be an adventure water sport for the thrill seekers, it is a completely safe sport and everyone should enjoy doing it at least once while in Goa. Parasailing offers are available in Goa throughout the year, but we suggest that the ideal time to experience parasailing is after monsoon, so that the skies are clear and one can enjoy this exhilarating experience without any disturbance.
