Baga beach gets its name from the Baga creek, which meets the Arabian Sea in northern Goa, and is situated between Calangute beach and Anjuna beach. Right from the time when tourism started blooming here, in 1960s, Baga has been one of the most popular beaches in Goa. The place is always buzzing with tourists and parties as it has some of the best cafes, shops, night clubs, resorts, restaurants, pubs and shacks. Apart from the parties, the Casa de Retiros or Baga Retreat House dedicated to St. Francis Xavier, the Blue Whale Water Park and Monsoon Fun Park, Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, Our Lady of Piety church and the Chapora&Aguada forts are places one can visit away from the beach.
