Known to be built as a military fortress for the defense of Portuguese, this fort is very famous owing to its unique location. Terekhol fort
Terekhol (also known as Tiracol) fort derives its name from the river on whose banks it is located. Initially built by a Sawantwadi ruler, it was later captured by the Portuguese in 1746. It is popular in the history as a symbol of revolt against the Portuguese rule. The Portuguese built a church inside which is now over a 100 years old. The remains of this fort as visible but not accessible to the public. Location of this fort is Tiracol, North Goa.
Reis Magos fort
This fort is built on the right bank of Mandovi river by the Portuguese in 1551 for defending Goa against intruders. What used to be a residence for viceroys back then is now being used as a prison. One of the oldest forts in the city of Goa, Reis Magos Fort offers a brilliant scenic view from all its sides. Cabo fort

Mormugao fort
